Not sure what’s up, but my database connections are taking forever to open. As a result everything’s down (including this blog there for a bit).
Working on it, hopefully things will be back up shortly. Thanks for your patience.
UPDATE — Hard coded in some internal IPs, things seem to be better now, but still no word on why internal DNS is taking forever.
We’ll come back to the first five letters, but let me take this moment to (a) plug another Case Game property, and (b) spread some joy about the world.
To take the second first, I’ll begin with the “f” and the “h”, for Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, respectfully, respectfully. Without any explanation, enjoy:
(youtube link here because I can’t figure out how to embed youtube videos in wordpress)
You may know of these two from “Jeeves and Wooster”, the BBC production of P. G. Wodehouse’s stories. Or perhaps you know Stephen Fry from his The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within.
But I suspect you know Hugh Laurie as the toe-MAY-toe-not-toe-MAH-toe doctor from FOX’s “House M.D.”, which I have on good, attractive — you know who you are — authority, is a fine show. And this brings us to letter number two, “g” is for giflix.com. Head on over, waste a few hours, post some animated gifs in your bloody myspace profiles. Here’s a taste:
In a flourish of financial wizardry not seen since dot-com-bubble-one-dot-oh, Turkish trader indigodergisi turned $10,000 (of play money) into a cool $327M in just 30 days, and in doing so raised $250 (of real money) for his charity of choice, UNICEF, playing the free online website trading game, urladex.
Per the suggestion of the urladex community, Season XIII was a short affair, and in place of the customary T-shirts for the top 10 finishers of the season, $250 was donated to the winner’s charity of choice. Indigodergisi (his personal site: indigodergisi.com) bought and sold his way to victory, fending off fierce competition from Ireland’s ninjabien, Thailand’s patrickbkk, and France’s LeP3, and thousands of other competitors from around the world.
Thanks for playing everyone!

Just a reminder that we’ll be meeting tomorrow on efnet in #casegame at 11am PST. Come on by. I’m sure most of the discussion will be urladex related, but you’re welcome to join in and ask about clickarang or giflix or whatever.
Transcripts will be posted here (where you’ll find older transcripts as well): casegame.com/chat_logs .
Yo yo yo.
